Mahan Chehrenama, D.O.
Dr. Chehrenama entered private practice in Northern Virginia in 1998. Her major professional interests include headaches, neuropathic pain, neuromuscular disorders, and the therapeutic usage of botulinum toxin. Dr. Chehrenama is the managing member of The Neurology and Headache Treatment Center. She is board-certified in neurology (American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology; National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners). She has served as principal investigator for many of the clinical research trials conducted by The Innovative Clinical Research Center. Dr. Chehrenama has authored several medical publications and is an active member of the American Academy of Neurology, American Headache Society and National Headache Foundation.
After graduating Magna Cum Laude from Lawrence University in Wisconsin, Dr. Chehrenama attended the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. She subsequently completed a medical internship at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, followed by Neurology residency at the University of Maryland Medical Systems. She was appointed Chief Resident and later completed a Neuromuscular/Neurophysiology Fellowship at the University of Maryland prior to joining The Neurology and Headache Treatment Center. Dr. Chehrenama holds a Subspecialty Certification in Headache Medicine from the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties.
Dr. Chehrenama resides in Northern Virginia with her husband and her two children. She enjoys yoga, hiking and a wide range of music.

Stuart Robert Stark, M.D.
Dr. Stark specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of headaches. He is the managing member of Innovative Clinical Research Center. Dr. Stark received his bachelor of science degree from the University of Maryland and his M.D. from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He performed his medical internship at the University of Maryland Affiliated Hospitals and his residency in neurology at Emory University School of Medicine and Georgetown University Medical Center. Dr. Stark was granted a fellowship in epilepsy and electroencephalography from the National Institutes of Health in Maryland. He is board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). Dr. Stark holds a Subspecialty Certification in Headache Medicine from the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties.
Dr. Stark is active in public service and has made many medical-related presentations. He has received numerous research grants yearly since 1989 and has published articles in various medical journals. Dr. Stark is an active member of the American Academy of Neurology.

Deane Bergsrud, P.A.
Deane Bergsrud is a board-certified physician's assistant, graduating from the
George Washington Physician Assistant Program. Prior to joining our practice in
1994, he was the Director of the Headache Clinic at the G.W.U. Department of
Neurology. Mr. Bergsrud is highly experienced in the evaluation and treatment of neurological conditions as well as the performance of numerous procedures including lumbar punctures, occipital nerve blocks, trigger point injections, and the administration of intravenous medications. In addition, he is involved in clinical research at our facility.

The neurologists at The Neurology & Headache Treatment Center are highly trained in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the nervous system, which include diseases of the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and muscles. Neurologists diagnose and treat strokes, epilepsy (seizures), headaches, dementias (Alzheimer's disease), multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, and various forms of pain. Neurologists may serve as consultants to other physicians and may provide long-term care to patients with chronic neurological disorders.
